Not Everything is All Sunshine

  Little Miss Sunshine     Valerie Faris and Johnathan Dayton, the directors of Little Miss Sunshine, recognize and acknowledge some social norms that have become in effect throughout society, some that alter people´s lives overall. This movie ties together a dysfunctional family, body image issues and self confidence all in one. Instead of another movie that resembles a fantasy this, this movie gives a little insight on what a ¨normal¨ family dynamic is. Per Olive being in a beauty contest, the norm of not eating ice cream or doing anything different from the others is resembled by the father. He tries to make Olive recognize that eating ice cream ¨makes people fat,¨ and that you don´t see fat girls winning beauty contests. Another norm that teaches a lesson in this movie could be the outlook on the family as a whole.
